IN THE NEWS: Governor Murphy’s 2025 State of the State – Proposed Changes to Parole Violations

January 14, 2025

Today, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy delivered his 2025 State of the State address at the State House in Trenton, NJ. Most notably, his announcement included proposed changes to parole violations.

The Governor spoke of legislation that would reduce the number of individuals who would get sent back to prison for technical parole violations – meaning that these individuals violated some aspect of their conditions to parole, as opposed to committing a new crime.
