Returning home after incarceration can come with many questions. Where can you find stable housing? How can you access employment support, legal services, education or other resources? Fortunately, individuals returning to their communities in New Jersey do not have to navigate reentry alone.
The Reentry Coalition of New Jersey and our agency members connect individuals transitioning out of the criminal justice system with a variety of reentry services and supportive resources throughout the state. Depending on an individual’s needs and location, these services may include housing assistance, employment training and placement, case management, legal services, education, healthcare, substance use treatment and more. Resources are available both statewide and by county, making it easier for individuals and their families to find support within their communities.
The Reentry Coalition of New Jersey also provides educational and advocacy resources for those interested in understanding the challenges associated with reentry and how policy, research and community-based programs can support successful reintegration.
Reentry is about more than returning home. It is a process of rebuilding stability, reconnecting with family and community and accessing the resources needed to move forward.
