Reentry is about ensuring that every person leaving the criminal justice system – regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, background or age – has the support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Effective reentry programs recognize each individual’s unique circumstances and provide the resources necessary for a meaningful, successful second chance.
This article from the Prison Journalism Project highlights why many older adults feel anxious about returning home after long periods of incarceration.
For some, the world they reenter is entirely different from the one they left. That’s why it is critical for reentry programs to meet people where they are and support all returning community members as they work toward brighter futures. ????
