Celebrating Minority Mental Health Month and the Impact Mental Health Has on the Reentry Process

July 31, 2025

As Minority Mental Health Month comes to a close in July, we want to take a moment to reflect on the critical role mental health plays in the reentry process. Returning home after incarceration is a complex journey. Individuals face a wide range of challenges – from securing safe, stable housing or employment to seeking treatment for addiction or substance use disorder. The shift from a highly-structured, restrictive environment to one with no bounds can take a serious mental health toll on both individuals who are recently released and their loved ones. The Reentry Coalition of New Jersey recognizes that mental health is a real and pressing challenge during the reentry process, and we’re here to help. If you or someone you know is in need of help, guidance or assistance, contact us today through this online form: Contact Us  To learn more about how mental health impacts the reentry process and supportive services available, check out this blog post: Raising Awareness of Mental Health and Its Impact on the Reentry Process
