A Guide to Reentry Resources in North Jersey

Did you know North Jersey has a wealth of resources for individuals reentering society after exiting the criminal justice system?

If you or someone you know is returning home from prison or jail or has recently returned home to one of New Jersey’s seven northern countiesBergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren – the Reentry Coalition of New Jersey can help!

 

What Help Can I Get Post-Incarceration?

With access to a number of local North Jersey agencies and organizations, the Reentry Coalition of New Jersey can connect you or your loved one to a variety of supportive services in your local community to help with the transition from incarceration back to home.

These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Legal services
  • Housing assistance
  • Employment training and placement
  • Case management services
  • Assistance with State Identification and Driver’s Licenses
  • Mental Health support
  • Addiction support and services

Some additional resources and specific programs available in North Jersey include:

Smart BooksThe New Jersey Department of Corrections’ Office of Transitional Services created a series of resource guides, tailored by county, for social services staff and incarcerated individuals looking to transition back into society.

NJAC’s County-Based Resources – Offered by the New Jersey Association on Correction, this program provides domestic violence services, sexual assault programs and services, health programs and community services including emergency needs such as phone usage, messaging and referrals to other community resources.
